At Local Footsteps, we believe there’s no better way to discover a city than on foot, with a local who calls it home. Our walking tour isn’t about memorizing dates or rushing from one landmark to the next, it’s about understanding the stories, people, and traditions that have shaped Brașov into the city it is today.
What makes our tour a little different? We begin with the city’s more recent past, exploring life during the communist era before gradually stepping further back in time, through the medieval fortifications and into the heart of old Brașov. By the end of the tour, you’ll have experienced the city as one continuous story rather than a collection of monuments.
Whether it’s your first visit or your fifth, we’d love to welcome you and help you experience Brașov the way locals do.

Tour Information

🕒 Time: Every day at 10:00 and 16:00
📍 Meeting Point: Modarom Building, at the entrance facing the old town. Look for your guide holding the Local Footsteps sign (and probably smiling already!).

Why do I need to book a free tour in advance?

Pre-booking lets us know you’re coming, so we’ll be there even if it’s just you! If no one reserves, the guide won’t be at the meeting point. Booking guarantees your spot and helps us plan a great experience for everyone.

Wear comfortable walking shoes and dress in layers, as the weather can change quickly. Don’t forget water, a hat or sunscreen in summer, and a warm jacket in colder months.

Our guides will always greet you by holding a purple umbrella at the meeting point, 15 minutes before the starting time of the tour. If you have trouble locating the meeting point or you’re running late, contact us at.

Absolutely! Most attractions allow photography, but some indoor sites, like the Black Church, may have restrictions or require a small fee for taking pictures.

A “free tour” typically means there is no fixed fee for joining, but guides rely on tips from participants. At the end of the tour, you can decide how much you’d like to contribute based on your experience and satisfaction.

We would recommend bringing a bottle of cold drink in the summer, that you can refill at some public drinking fountains while walking.

Yes, pets are welcome in outdoor areas like Council Square, Rope Street, and the Old Walls. However, they are not allowed inside churches or museums.
